A.B. Grooming & Pet Spa -
Meet Our "Family"

Big Mike

Big Mike is a toy poodle born in April of 2009. When he's older, Amy will use him in breed profile competitions. Mike is always in the studio, and loves everyone he meets...even Sulcata tortoises!

Oona is a standard poodle pup born in April of 2009. She will be in her first creative grooming competition in August 2009 at the US Pet Pro Classic held in Dallas.

Victor, a retired champion show dog, was adopted in March 2009. He was born in 2005 and is a löwchen (meaning "little lion"), a breed which once held the title of rarest dog in the world and remains scarce today. He was recently used in a creative grooming demo at the Pet Stylist Super Show in Knoxville, TN on April 5, 2009.

Xerxes and Ruby

They are standard poodles, born in March 2008. While Ruby stays in traditional poodle groom for breed profile competitions, Xerxes is always a different color or in a different groom to prepare for creative grooming competitions! They were both entered into their first grooming competitions in October 2008 at the Pet Pro Classic where Amy won first place with Ruby in Large Non-Sporting Breed Profile and groomed Xerxes like a monster from "Where the Wild Things Are." Ruby was recently used in Large Non-Sporting Breed Profile at the Atlanta Pet Fair 2009 and Poodle Breed Profile at the Pet Stylist Super Show 2009. Amy groomed Xerxes as a Spanish fighting bull for a creative competition at the Pet Stylist Super Show 2009 where she placed first in her division and won the title "Best Creative Groomer."

Tiny Ursa

Tiny Ursa, born in December of 2004, is a toy poodle that was rescued from a puppy mill. She is used in a variety of competitions, including the Runway Challenge at the Pet Pro Classic in October 2008 where Amy won Best Creative Runway First Timer dressed as Cruela De Ville from 101 Dalmations with Ursa as her "accessory".

Shoo Shoo

Shoo Shoo is a Pomeranian/Poodle mix, born in spring of 2004. She is also used a variety of competitions from mixed breed grooming to creative events. She recently participated in the Catwalk Challenge, a runway competition at the Atlanta Pet Fair 2009.

Marjory Stewart Baxter

Marjory is a toy poodle, born in October 2007. While she isn't used in competitions, she does enjoy spending time in the studio befriending visitors!

Hatchet is a Healer mix born in July 2006. He was rescued from an animal shelter as a puppy. He enjoys "herding" our cats around the house!

Moses and Noah

Moses and his brother Noah are Basset Hounds, born in September 2001. They may bark as you walk towards the shop, but they're just saying hi!

Grampa is a schnauzer mix who is estimated to be around 16 years old. He has been a member of our family since August 2007. Amy has worked with dogs for many years and has seen many abuse and neglect cases, but Grampa was one of the worst. When he was brought in for a groom, he was covered in matts, matts that had been there for so long that the weight of his hair caused it to tear out. The hair around his bottom was covered in feces and maggots. He was dehydrated and starved. The woman who brought him never returned for him. As Amy worked to bring him back into good health, it was determined that he had heart worms, prostate problems, malnutrition, dehydration, anemia, intestinal parasites, and cataracts in his eyes. Although it has taken time, money, and lots of TLC, Grampa is now in great health! Check out the pictures below to see Grampa's amazing transformation!

We lost our precious Gramps on May 8th of 2009. He was a very special little man and will be dearly missed.

Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed.
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.
